Board-Certified General and Thoracic Surgeon Joins Astria Health

Astria Health welcomes new Board-Certified General & Thoracic Surgeon to Yakima Valley

 

(SUNNYSIDE, Wash., November 30, 2021) – Astria Health is pleased to welcome Ernesto Dizon, Jr., M.D., FACS, as its new board-certified general and thoracic surgeon to provide specialized laparoscopic and thoracic surgical procedures to patients in need, closer to home.

            “I joined Astria Health to provide Yakima Valley residents with greater access to the latest surgical techniques and technology,” Dr. Dizon said. “I’m looking forward to serving this community and giving patients the opportunity to have great surgical care without the drive to Yakima or Tri-Cities.” 

            Dr. Dizon started seeing patients at Astria Health on Monday, November 15. He joins the organization from RCCH Trios Hospital in Kennewick, where he served as the Chief of Surgery and Trauma Director. Dr. Dizon offers over 16 years of experience in minimally-invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. His specialties include, but are not limited to: minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery for: gallbladder; hernia repair; colon resection; appendectomy; anti-reflux; spleen removal; lung resection; thoracic surgery / VATS (video-assisted thoracic surgery); bronchoscopy and lung surgery. As well as, thyroid and parathyroid surgery; vascular access surgery / Mediport insertion; breast surgery; endoscopy; colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. 

          Dr. Dizon completed his residency in thoracic and cardiac surgery at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He also completed his general surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn. Dr. Dizon received his medical degree from the University of the East College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines and performed another internship in surgery at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

            Dr. Dizon is currently accepting new patients at Astria Health Centers in Prosser and Union Gap; the Specialty Center Surgical Group in Sunnyside; and will be providing services at Astria Sunnyside Hospital and Astria Toppenish Hospital.
