Astria Health Welcomes two Neurosurgeons to the Valley

Yakima, WA (August 23, 2018) - Neurosurgeons Brad A. Ward, MD and Peter Grunert, MD have joined the Astria Health medical team.
Dr. Brad A. Ward earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical School. He completed an Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Neurological Surgery at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Mississippi. He has over 20 years of experience as a physician and throughout his career, Dr. Ward has taken call for a Level II trauma facility and has treated thousands of patients with a diverse range of neurosurgical cases.
Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Ward is passionate about finding the best treatment options for his patients. He offers extensive knowledge about the latest minimally-invasive surgery techniques as well as non-surgical approaches to treating disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves.
Dr. Ward will see patients at the Astria Health Center at 6101 Summitview Ave., Suite 200 in Yakima and at the Astria Sunnyside Hospital Specialty Center Surgical Group at 500 S 11th St. in Sunnyside. He will perform surgeries at Astria Sunnyside Hospital and Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima.
Dr. Peter Grunert earned his medical degree at the Medical University of Innsbruck before completing residency in Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He completed his Fellowships in minimally invasive spine surgery at Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center and Swedish Neuroscience Institute.
With experience as a physician and an award-winning medical researcher, Dr. Grunert has a strong interest in mastering and implementing the latest neurosurgical advancements like performing complex spinal procedures that present fewer complications and minimize recovery time for patients. He has also worked on project teams devoted to finding innovative treatment plans designed to significantly improve procedure results.
Dr. Grunert has also done extensive volunteer work with the Tanzania Neurosurgery Project where he helped train other neurosurgeons and played an integral role in raising funds for the project.
Dr. Grunert will see patients at the Astria Health Center at 6101 Summitview Ave. in Yakima and at the Astria Health Center at 355 Chardonnay Ave. in Prosser. He will perform surgeries at Astria Sunnyside Hospital and Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima.
