Astria Health welcomes new Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon to Sunnyside (SUNNYSIDE, Wash., September 11, 2025) – Astria Health is pleased to welcome Chad Williams, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, to the Astria Health team. Dr. Williams started on September, 8, 2025. He will care for patients at the Astria Health Center, 1812 E Edison Avenue in Sunnyside, and provide surgical services at Astria Sunnyside Hospital.
Dr. Williams joins Astria Health’s team of expert orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Zachary Tan and Dr. Adrian Obuch, expanding access to comprehensive orthopedic care across the Lower Yakima Valley. He brings specialized expertise in using Mako SmartRobotics™ for total hip, total knee, and partial knee replacements, providing advanced, precise treatment options for patients requiring joint replacement.
“I believe strongly in the body’s ability to heal itself,” said Dr. Williams. “I also believe in a multi-disciplinary approach to joint repair that includes collaboration with sports medicine specialists, physical therapists, and the patient’s primary care provider. Surgery is not always the first step, but when a joint does need to be replaced, my patients can feel confident knowing I am a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with years of experience.”
Dr. Williams comes to Astria Health after practicing in the Tri-Cities since 2019. He completed his fellowship in Adult [Joint] Reconstruction at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, NY. His broad orthopedic services include diagnosis and treatment of common, chronic, and complex injuries such as joint replacement, orthopedic trauma and fractures, sports medicine injuries, knee arthroscopy, and more. Dr. Williams is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Williams earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, NE, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH.
“We’re proud to welcome Dr. Williams to Astria Health and know that his experience and expertise will greatly benefit our patients,” said Brian Gibbons, President and Chief Executive Officer of Astria Health. He continued, “With three full time orthopedic surgeons, Astria Health is able to better serve patients in the rural communities we serve, ensuring that they do not have to travel far for care or wait months for treatment.”
Dr. Williams is now accepting patients at the Astria Health Center, 1812 E Edison Avenue in Sunnyside. If you are struggling with joint pain, ask your primary care provider for a referral to Dr. Chad Williams at Astria Health.
