Yakima, WA (October 2, 2018) - Astria Health is pleased to welcome two new general surgeons to the region.
Whitney Parnell, MD earned her medical degree, Summa cum Laude, at Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, NE and completed her surgical residency at Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency in Arizona. She is certified with the American Board of Surgeons, and most recently served as Director of Breast Health for Grand Strand Surgical Specialists in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Dr. Parnell has significant surgical experience from minimally invasive techniques and bariatric surgery to breast, spine and trauma surgery. Dr. Parnell is also trained in DaVinci robotic surgery, and is looking forward to working with our Astria Regional Medical Center’s surgical team and offer her skills to patients in the Yakima Valley.
Dr. Parnell will see patients at the Astria Health Center located at 1005 W. Walnut Suite 223 in Yakima and perform surgeries at Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima as well as Astria Sunnyside Hospital in Sunnyside.
Carrie Newton, DO earned her undergraduate degree, from Indiana University and her Medical degree at Des Moines University. She recently completed her surgical residency at St. John Providence Health System in Detroit, MI. With special interests in digestive health and gastrointestinal surgeries, Dr. Newton has training and experience in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, cancer surgery, breast surgery and trauma surgery.
She and her team are passionate about bringing new and technologically advanced surgical techniques that are minimally-invasive so that patients experience less painful and recover much faster.
Dr. Newton will see patients at the Astria Health Center, Surgical Services 1005 W. Walnut, Suite 223 in Yakima and perform surgeries at Astria Regional Medical Center.
